2017 Kerrin Rennie Award goes to Medtronic - Solitaire PlatinumTM

The Medical Technology Association of Australia (MTAA) announced the winner of the 11th Kerrin Rennie Award, Medtronic’s Solitaire Platinum device at the MedTech Industry Awards Dinner 2017 at Doltone House.

 

The Solitaire Platinum restores the flow of blood to the brain by allowing the clot to be removed and withdrawing it from the body.


The other Awards recipients include:
• Dr Elisa Mokany from Speedx – Outstanding Achievement in MedTech
• Emma Cleary from Device Technologies – Women in MedTech Champion
• Johnson & Johnson Medical – Women in MedTech Champion

MTAA Strategic Plan 2017 - 2020

The Medical Technology Association of Australia (MTAA) has launched its new Strategic Plan 2017 - 2020. 


The Strategic Plan draws on extensive quantitative and qualitative research conducted with MTAA members earlier in the year. 


The Plan focuses on collaboration as a pathway to grow the MTAA, with a broad-based alliance that includes researchers, manufacturers, distributors, clinicians, providers, funders and consumers.

Complying with the Code of Practice - 21st November 2017, Sydney

2.2 Complying with the Code of Practice is an interactive, face-to-face training course to enhance understanding of the Code.


Main topics being covered include advertising, interactions with healthcare professionals, administration of the Code, Monitoring Activities, Complaints, Sanctions and Appeal Procedures.

 

Please note: there has been a venue change, it will now be held at Rydges North Sydney, 54 McLaren Street.

 

This course is open to members and non-members.

Christmas Party Cases - Free Webinar - 28th November 2017

When employees misbehave in the silly season, it is a poorly timed but serious management issue and lends itself to a few interesting case examples. We will review classic cases which occurred at and around workplace Christmas parties.

Private Health Premiums likely to rise another $200 per year in 2018

As reported in the Herald Sun families are facing a further $200 increase next year in their health insurance premiums.

 

MTAA again calls on the Australian National Audit Office (ANAO) to be given the power to audit the books of insurers to ensure the $1.5 billion in medical device price savings are passed onto consumers.

MTPConnect and MTAA Partnership

MTPConnect – the Medical Technologies, Biotechnologies and Pharmaceuticals Industry Growth Centre and the Medical Technology Association of Australia (MTAA) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to work collaboratively to boost the growing MedTech industry in Australia.

Insights from the MTAA Annual Conference - MedTech 2017

The Medical Technology Association of Australia would like to thank all speakers, panelists, sponsors, exhibitors and delegates for their input into MedTech 2017 held on the 1st and 2nd November 2017.


Dr Glenn Carter, Manager & Owner of Healthcare Professionals Group (exhibited as Pharmaceutical & Medical Professionals) wrote a great review of the conference program which was praised by MTAA Chair Gavin Fox-Smith as "one of the best conference programs the association has ever produced".

The Bridge Program

Queensland University of Technology, in collaboration with MTPConnect and 15 pharmaceutical companies, universities and industry associations, will be delivering an exciting, new and innovative education program that will provide the necessary training to enable the successful commercialisation of Australian pharmaceutical research.

 

The 2018 offering of the program will select participants from across Australia to take part in face-to-face and online training in the scientific, legal, financial, clinical, regulatory and reimbursement disciplines that contribute to research translation and the commercialisation of medicines.
