MedTech Industry has come together to recognise International Women’s Day

The Medical Technology Association of Australia (MTAA) yesterday held an event for 100 industry representatives to hear the NSW Minister for Women, Tanya Davies MP speak in recognition of International Women’s Day.

This year the theme – Press for Progress – is a live issue globally and something the Medical Technology (MedTech) industry is actively pursuing.

MTAA and the MedTech industry is leading the debate to promote the benefits of gender diversity in the workplace. Just last month the Workplace Gender Equality Agency recognised Baxter Healthcare, Becton Dickinson and Johnson & Johnson as leaders in workplace gender equality.

Record 30 per cent increase in complaints about health insurance

The Sydney Morning Herald recently published an article titled "Record 30 per cent increase in complaints about health insurance"

MTAA was quoted in the article

"Ian Burgess, chief executive of the Medical Technology Association of Australia, which recently delivered a $1.1 billion saving to insurers last year, said health funds were reluctant to put their hand in their own pockets to find savings for customers."

“These complaints are a symptom of why customers are leaving private health insurance," he said.

Complaints jump
Latest Private Health Insurance Ombudsman figures show complaints about health insurers have surged by a record 30 per cent in the past year.
