MTAA Endorses The Voice to Parliament
To mark the National Aboriginal and Islanders Day Observance Committee (NAIDOC) week, the Medical Technology Association of Australia (MTAA) has announced its endorsement of The Voice to Parliament referendum.
MTAA supports the Uluru Statement from The Heart, including a constitutionally enshrined Voice to Parliament.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders have poorer access to healthcare, shorter life expectancy and worse health outcomes, with a burden of disease 2.3 times that of other Australians. As a nation, we must address this health inequity, and to achieve this, we must ensure Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders can inform and influence policy decisions that affect their health.
We recognise that some people, including some of our members and their employees, may hold different views on the referendum. We encourage everyone to take the time to become informed, understand the facts, and realise their position before casting their vote in the referendum later this year.
