Medical Products National Manufacturing Priority Road Map

Recently, Hon Karen Andrews, MP, Minister for Industry, Science & Technology, Member for McPherson Queensland announced the Roadmaps for Medical Products, for the department's Modern Manufacturing Initiative. This initiative provides $1.3bn of funding in support of Australian manufacturing in six key areas, of which Medical Products is one. The next funding round closes in four weeks. The funding works on a co-investment model.

The key priority areas include those listed below. In particular, they are looking to fund manufacturing of medical products in the Translation and Integration Streams. This means supporting R&D through to commercialisation and getting Australian products into local and global value chains and new markets. MTAA has formed the Manufacturing Working Group (MWG), a group of members engaged in local manufacturing to support this initiative and is engaged with DISER for advocacy and support for members with this initiative.
